Mixtape review

So let's begin this journey...

Firstly I've never spoken about Chiedu on my blog but have been a fan quietly for some time.
Chiedu pops up on my Facebook feed daily, there is something captivating about him and the things that surround him.
 He's Hull through and through.
You can't beat that.
Do I love that damn straight I do.
Can I get enough?
Quick answer NOPE!!!

So...

NOT YA AVERAGE SPITTING 1.5

Was brought to you with a huge Hull vibe, tone and truth.
Yorkshire, Hull accent all the way.
I am a thirty seven year old girl brought up with Snoop, Nate, De La Soul, Arrested Development, Mos Def, Soul to soul and that's the tip of an iceberg to my musical tastes an soundtracks from my youth to date.

Chiedu's new music brings you a deep, clear and humble voice of the city of Hull.
Full of truths,
some slang a long with a honest tongue.
Refreshing to me and hopefully to you.

Each track is short but sweet, this for me makes me want to skip to the next track to hear more.
A bad thing? I say not, I would like them longer because this guy has much to say and what he says works and is easy to relate to.

So why did I enjoy it?
If you're Hull, you'll know his lyrics ring true.
You'll know what his words mean. If not sit and listen you'll soon get it.

Lyrically it's like he can't roll the words off fast enough and like he's constantly thinking.

This is not to be taken lightly, it makes your heart race and your body energised.
Isn't that what that genre of music is all about?
Beats, a voice and something to have you thinking.
Stirring up an emotion or ten.
I love that, play pause and repeat you better believe it.

Which tracks did I like the best..

Mobb Deep
Survival Of Da Fittest
3.41 long
Then this...
Fugees : Fu-Gee-La
The whole mixtape is a playback and play some more but the two tracks above I relate to and recognise the most.
Smiling as I listen, who'd of thought the Hull accent could pair with such recognisable beats.
I never saw it coming maybe I took myself of the pulse of Hull, what it gives and what we have.
Not for long I need to write more about music and be more involved I feel I have been missing out.

There are enjoyable sounds from the heart beat of this city.. and Chiedu is capturing it, taking it and grabbing it by it's roots and making it come to the surface with an almighty bang.

Take track 4
White Stripes Seven Nation Army
It's a huge track Jack White is a legend as was The White Stripes that track and sound is worldwide recognised Chiedu went and made it his.
He wiped that track clean and made his own spin on it.
You couldn't match any of those tracks to a mixtape like
Not Ya Average Spitting has done.
Hat's off I say.

I say this mixtape is a ground breaker on the whole scene...
It's got passion and thought.
I just want you to listen and make your own mind up actually.

It's not the end though it's just the start so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Here's a little more..

Visually also he's got class, style and holds it well.

With the Hull music culture bursting with talent he holds his head high and you'll often find me talking about his song I'm from a city.
