The thing about being mediocre

The thing about being mediocre

Here's the thing

You make me want to drop you off the earth with that mediocre s**t

We all know something or someone that's the epitome of it

We all know something that's....

We've all eaten something trying too hard that's the most hyped up dish that's...

Anyway

Where do I begin?
Music isn't a bad place to start is it
This isn't
Look, I'm of that age
No one can touch a classic like this
Beastie Boys was a whole new world
This track has to be my all-time fave
It just screams rebellion and I play it full belt when it's on
The epitome of style and cool
The never ending love affair with this song, iconic, stimulating and beautifully sung.
This
This new vibe
Fresh from
HULL
OUR
Hull City Of Culture
This goddess on this all-time classic, never to be touched show!
A different world
Sorry mum, if this was on late at night I think I snook down to watch it!
Music, culture, life lessons and reality
A different world really opened my eyes and now and again I think back to the feelings I had attached tot hat show, the time, the era and fulfilment from it

You see mediocre is the biggest fucking rip off of our time!
Come on..be honest

Bland shit like this
What the f**k is going on, how are our kids growing up listening to this?
Watching shit like this

Reading

Vice used to be a solid, good info, sharp read
Now it's, you guessed it..
VICE
has become 'The Onion of satire in the industry

Much like

Back when I was a kid, I couldn't stop thinking about music
Smash Hits was a good read, I'd do anything to buy NME which then was like a paper
DJ magazine was something I'd save for
What are we teaching now?
What lessons are learned in music?

Not even sorry but that drab, numb, one tone shit doesn't come close
Hipster, lifeless, pastel shot video are...
Unlike this

I bet an ex is going to try to take credit for my taste's because he's...

Beats bus

Hello and welcome back
Today's blog brings you
Hull Beats Bus

Haven't heard of Hull Beats Bus?
That's alright, today's blog is dedicated to them.

Some facts

A team of award-winning hip-hop and graffiti artists from Hull are taking hip-hop workshops into schools and festivals
                                 • The true spirit of hip-hop with hip-hop history
                       • Inspiring young minds with song writing and rap workshops
                         • Learn how to scratch some of the biggest hip-hop beats
                          • Bring out your inner b-boy with breakdancing classes
                                                • Get creative with graffiti art
                                           • Get your original tracks recorded
                    • Develop your confidence via the positive expression of music
The Beats Bus is put together of core members
Firstly
Steve aka Redeye
Steve's well known throughout the City, he's a huge hit for his musical talents.
Playing at events such as Humber Street Sesh.

That links me to Nigel
Nigel hails from EndOfLevelBaddie
Which personally I adored, If you know EndOflevelBaddie you'll know Nigel and Scott
Nigel has moved on to new ventures which involves Hulls Beat Bus

Then too Nick Horsfield
Nick's talent is all over the city.
I've known Nick quite some time and shared a great day watching De La Soul In York
I believe Nick was doing live graffiti on that day also.
If you're a fan of
Dope Burger, Sesh and Graffiti
you'll know Nick

Fast T, who is a tutor
I know little about Fast T but I do know he's a talented man.
I know that he's clearly confident and I have seen his face at all the major gigs and transport people with his music into something of a stupor.
This is indeed my kind of vibe!
Then this collaborative...
Lush, mellow, chilled and soulful.

Then we move to Dave Okwesia
I've never met Dave but he turned up at the meeting with Redeye and it all unravelled
Dave been involved in many things, you'll find him on Hull's spring bank.

It's fundamental to know the roots of these guys, Beats Bus is a collaborative of many talents brought together to help bring communities
together.

Arco a local company invested in Hulls Beat bus
Listening to Redeye their latest up and coming event is going to be held for 120 volunteers that have been guiding all the visitors through 2017 our year, our city of culture 2017.
The day will be full of
Dj sessions, breakdancing, songwriting and graffiti, some soulful confidence building. Reaching out to ages from as young as sixteen to people in seventies.

The ethos and roots are about reaching out to people, investing in children who are often left out of society and don't have the money or resources to be involved.
Bringing communities together to battle against violence.

Beat's bus also is involved in many schools projects including Priory Road, Hall Road & Ainthorpe.
The result was a really inspiring production at Freedom festival
Firstly, how beautiful is this!
Total amazing vibes.. Huge love to those children!

Music is an integral part of life, sadly music and art are being cut from many school curriculums.
Music is expressive and creative so I feel Beats Bus is a great asset to the city and hopefully the country!

There are four key elements to Beats Bus
.djing
.Breakdancing
.Graffiti
.Mc'ing
and of course knowledge

Investment is always good, connecting, collaborating and growing

Rosalind Nashashibi

Hello
Welcome back

I have had so many changes since my last personal blog I really don't know where or how to start!
Thrilling, exhausting, life-changing, happy, brilliant changes.

I have gone from working in a kitchen at night to baking.
Baking in my local bakery, a happy medium of four /five days a week. With no nights, just days and a weekend virtually off.

I decided to move, so am looking for a new location.
Perhaps back to Ella Street, it seems logical to stay local although recently applied for a long haul job with The New York Times.

Hull, as we all know is The City Of Culture.
That being said The Turner Prize is here.

After missing the preview due to working in London I couldn't attend the event.

I wanted to focus on
Rosalind Nashashibi
seen here to the far right of the image.

Firstly before you read more I wanted new readers to know I have dyslexia, the film has subtitles and I can not focus on both.
My review is purely based on my visual and sound experiences as I struggle to read.

Vivian's Garden is a film just under thirty minutes long or short, take it as you will.
We all know I cook, we all know I present food like art.
The table must be dressed with an overflow of grandeur, each plate is a symbol of my love and devotion to not only my guest but my awe-inspiring dedication to each mouthful.
The table must have plates that sing,
the coasters for the many glasses must present structure and decadence as if you were at a grand meal. Scrap that, every meal at my house is grand.
The glasses must provide warmth but not take up space.
The meal, the food, the scent, the texture must perform like a symphony.

How does that compare to Rosalind, yes I know you are asking that!!!
Hang on though...
Firstly, I feel she's existential, Vivian's garden is a trek through not only your eyes but joy, simple indulgence of joy.

There are breaths you'll take through Vivian's garden that will make you end with a smile.
The stunning pastels, terracottas, greens and sounds of lush forest are a world away, yet so near.

It's a tender film, of such significance, humility and depth.
Needless to say, I truly fell in love with it.
I wish to be a girl again, walking through that garden and painting in amongst the trees.
(I was at Kevin Marshalls today, I took my inner girl back, we looked and I felt like I'd found something lost)
Yes, I paint although I have not for a long time, Mum reiterates that I can paint and paint better than anything in the current Turner Prize exhibit.
Which is a lovely thing to hear, my mum the goddess of strength and beauty, it made me smile getting that text.

Back to the film and less of my tender waffling over such things as myself.

You'll see greens, leafs and styled
(I am sure just placed)
objects that look stills, like they could be a painting.
That's what blew my mind the sheer beauty of life in this film.

I could live there, hammock, dogs and people there to help me.
I don't mean staff as such I mean a respectful dedication to something greater.

I didn't rush this film, I sipped it like a great mocha. One sip at a time, a deep cup full of flavour, texture and I was left having so many questions. I need to know more, I want to go to Guatemala and to that house.

I feel this film is an enrichment, it serves your soul, it makes your mind bleed into something rather spectacular. The mythical journey of the mind is so powerful.
Go and adore... what are you waiting for?

Hello and welcome back today's blog features
Eat Real Healthy Snacking

RISE OF THE HEALTHY ADULT LUNCHBOX!
If you thought packed lunches were just for kids - think again!  The number of adults swapping canteen food for lunchboxes is on the rise* as more and more people choose to satisfy their appetite for a healthier lifestyle with a healthy packed lunch.

I was sent a selection of four flavours, I had no idea what was in the box.
So as you can imagine it was quite exciting picking up a box from the sorting office getting it home and opening it up.
Everyone enjoys crisps right?

So, shouldn't you have the choice to eat healthy also?
Of course, you should Eat Real is a healthy, light flavourful addition to your lunch box and a snack.
Sundried tomato and roasted garlic
Ridged, crisp, delicate and just enough to satisfy.

Kale, tomato & spinach
Personally, I think these are one the best.
We all like a quirkily shaped crisp, yes we do!
These would be really good with a dip or salsa, happily, unlike some 'crisps, these are non-greasy.

Sea salt lentil chips
Eat Real are 40% less fat than the regular potato chips, they are gluten-free, suitable for vegans and have no added sugar.

Finally my favourite of all the chips
The Hummus sour cream and chives.
They are the most mouthwatering, creamy, crunchy, seductive chip known to man.
Shaped like pasta shells, these morsels are the pinnacle of any snack.
I firmly recommend they are to be tried, tasted and tested.
To help pack a lunch punch without compromising on taste, Eat Real’s pulse and grain-based snacks deliver a healthy lunch munch in a range of on-trend flavours and are perfect for anyone either making lifestyle choices or living with dietary intolerances.  Gluten and lactose-free, and suitable for Vegan and Kosher diets, they contain significantly less fat (up to 48% less) than traditional potato crisps – and some have no added sugar.
Eat Real’s Hummus Chips, Lentil Chips, Quinoa Chips and Veggie Straws come in a wide range of yummy flavours - including Creamy Dill, Sundried Tomato & Roasted Garlic, Chilli & Lemon and Sea Salt – and in handy packs (22-25g), impulse bags for bigger appetites (30-45g) and sharing bags (80-135g).
They’re available from independent health stores and most major retail multiples including Holland & Barrett, Tesco, Co-op and Morrisons.  RRP: 50p -£1.79.

*Adults have consumed an extra 100 million packed lunches in the past two years (Kantar Worldwide 2017).

Bessie's vintage

Hello and welcome back
I have been very busy writing, getting published, travelling and having some huge adventures.
I found a new job on my beloved Humber Street, started writing for three magazines and am waiting to go away to The South Of France for a few weeks.

Until then though, I'd like to talk about The lovely lady that is Bessies Vintage.

Don't say who, the lady behind the brand is a total joy.
By the way, she's a new found friend.
I came across Debbie AKA Bessies Vinatge via Instagram

Debbies selective vintage eye is a magical throwback for me.
Look, I am at heart a HU5 girl, if you know me you know I love, I hoard and I collect Vintage everything.
Debbie's beautiful eye casts me back to a shop long gone from Princes Ave's Polly Anna.
Don't be
GREEN WITH ENVY
though darling
those days were good, they were great.
Bessie's Vintage brings it all back!

I invited Bessie's vintage to my place and she brought a HAUL of goodies.

Debbie couldn't wait to show me the box and I couldn't wait to see what was in it.

Crates are all the rage right now so look at this little delight for eggs.

We all know a QUEEN who'd love this for their bathroom to hang there gown on

This vintage flour dredger could have you whipping up a cake or two like Nigella Lawson
Be a devil, make the Devils cake with it.

Debbie has a keen eye for all things up and coming. The letters are divine, they could be painted or left totally naked.

Lighting has always been a trend there are so many choices out there Bessie's stocks many great alternates

You can view Beesie's Vintage on Facebook

I couldn't help shoot this
Led, neon style metal
LOVE sign
in my very own boudoir such a fitting place for something, sensual, seductive and utterly in keeping.
There's even a news letter for when you need to purge and indulge

Buy it here

Stary nights star light

There's a lovely little gift wrapping service!
Now that's a service I want.

I have a huge admiration for Debbie, this is her full-time job. As a fellow self-employed lady, I know Debbie's plight and how much hard work it is. It's a dedication to doing what you love, making it work and working tirelessly because you just love it that much.

Cakes 'N art,
yes art these are truly stunning
Okay, okay I may have changed base on my place to go on a Sunday morning.
I have a sense of guilt over that, I love Harry's it's a blessed space but
Zoo, Newland Avenue
Is a walk away for this HU5 girl and I love rocking up for a cuppa, sitting in peace knowing my place is a five minute sunny walk away.

Knew it and so did you

We all know a messy chef

I have an infinitive love for gelato and ice cream
Yes, you read right gelato and ice cream
I have had both far and wide all over the world
Upon having a foodie conversation
(very normal in my world)
I was told about
Zachary's
Of course, an eager friend took me, I have to say this far out ways any other in Hull
Yes I said it and it's true, not only is it very very pretty.
Matching the famous Harrods parlor (Yes I have been and it was divine) even dare I say my favorite and adored Fortnum and Masion
(forgive me F&M you have my heart)
This is a pure delight, devoted to splendid decor high back stools, studded and glorious.
Padded and sumptuous seating built in with ever so pretty lighting. Zachary's has no match, the blueberry frozen yoghurt was not only crisp, sweet, generously served it was deep in flavour as well as colour.
I normally opt for a chocolate anything, through sheer unwilling and devout love for it but this was a very fair trade and now I want more!

Feet dangling like a child, after all, doesn't ice cream just take you back to that time and feeling?

I work with fish most days, I never home cook fish which is crazy.
This is oven baked haddock
with a fresh mango, chipotle hot salsa
DWELL
smashing design every time
Now 'N then we all need to laugh
COS gauffing (mainly that word)
is for w@nkers, remember that the urban dictonary can make you sound like a total shitter
